Diet failure usually happens due to how to the dieter gets started. If you start off the wrong way, you’ll more than likely lose motivation, run into several roadblocks, you won’t get results, and you’ll just end up frustrated. Unfortunately, this seems to be the case for MANY people (including myself when I first got started).
After failing several times before, I realized something. I realized that if you just start your diet off on the right foot in the beginning, then you will increase the likelihood significantly that not only will you stick with the program, but you’ll also reach tremendous success. Because I changed my approach around when I started my very LAST diet, I wound up dropping 52 pounds of body fat in 8 freaking weeks!
Listen, if you want to stop this merry-go-round of getting on diets and jumping off, and then doing it all over again, then I want to help you stop this terrible (and expensive) problem once and for all. Listed below are 3 ways you can start a diet program, but only one of those ways will guarantee that you’ll stay consistent with the program, and it will guarantee tremendous success! Read on to learn more…
1. The All Or Nothing Approach – This approach to getting started most certainly seems motivating. With this approach, there is no thinking, no planning, no nothing. You just look at yourself in the mirror, you say to yourself “enough is enough”, you join a gym, you get a diet program, and you just jump right in. Now, quickly looking at that most would say that this approach is a good way to get started because you are not procrastinating and it seems much more motivating. Well, that is true in a sense, but there is a problem…
Starting a weight loss diet program full speed ahead without CONTINUING willpower and motivation, and without having a plan, is a recipe for disaster! Most people are super pumped to get there bodies in shape… in the beginning. But, after sometime (such as a few days to a couple of weeks), that willpower and motivation may start to run out due to SEVERAL obstacles (such as hunger pangs, cravings, feeling sore from exercising, and more) that will inevitably pop up. Not to mention, not having a smart and doable plan for you to reach your goals is certainly a surefire way to lose focus and motivation.
2. The Ease In Approach – With this approach, it’s the exact opposite of the “all or nothing approach”. What you do here is you gently ease in to a diet and fitness program. You make tiny small changes each day (such as eating an apple, doing 10 jumping jacks, drinking a little more water than usual, etc.) until it turns into a full-blown diet and fitness program.
This seems like a good way to get started because it is VERY easy to do. However, the problem with this approach is that it doesn’t produce the one thing that will cause you to have a lot of motivation to stick with your diet and exercise goals. That one thing is RESULTS.
My friend, I can not stress this enough, but the number one secret to getting an overwhelming amount of motivation to stick with your weight loss goals is by getting RESULTS! Please, remember this during your journey. Sure, looking at movies with ripped movie stars, reading fitness magazines, watching motivational YouTube.com videos, etc. will give you motivation. However, the ultimate source of continuing motivation is looking in the mirror and seeing results, looking on the scale and seeing results, and putting on your clothes… and you guessed it… seeing RESULTS!
3. The Smart Start Approach – This is by far the best way to go about starting your program… hence the title “SMART start”. With this approach, you go about starting your journey to get in shape by starting a program tailored specifically for you. What do I mean by that?
Well, when you go about dieting and exercising, the one thing you must understand is that your body is different from the billions of other people on this planet. Therefore, your body is going to respond differently to different fitness and diet methods. For example, I get AMAZING results by focusing more on getting a lot of protein and minimal carbs with my diet and doing primarily weight training exercises with short high intensity cardio. However, this type of program may not work for you based off of your body type and your own personal goals.
So, what’s the solution? Well, what I recommend you do is to go on a program that will customize a diet and exercise program specifically for you based off of your body type, current weight, your goals, and your lifestyle. This type of program will not only take into consideration what and how you should eat and the best types of exercises for you to do, it will also make it easier for YOU to get started and stay consistent… so that you’ll develop that one thing I mentioned above that will motivate you more than anything else… RESULTS!
