How To Quickly Readjust And Get Back On Track If You Screwed Up With Dieting Or Exercising

Have you been working hard with dieting and exercising only to have screwed up a time or two… and then wound up losing motivation? Well, if you have, then don’t fret, there are some things you can do to get back on track and regain motivation (and maybe get even more motivation than you had when you first got started)!

*Please Note* This is something that has personally worked for ME. I am not a therapist or psychologist. I just want to share what has worked for me given that it is very easy to do and I personally feel that ANYONE can benefit from these tips.

First things first. Before I go into what you can do to readjust and get back on track with your weight loss goals, I just wanted to clarify what I mean by “screwing up”. What I am referring to is when you intentionally skip a workout, or you give in to eating poorly, etc.

So, with all that being said, here are 4 things you can do to quickly readjust and get back on track…

1. First, understand that screwing up is perfectly normal… and that’s because you are only human! So don’t feel bad if you either feel like giving in to a temptation or you actually give in. Just give the next 3 techniques a try to get back on track. DO NOT think that just because you slipped and skipped a workout or you gave in and had that double cheeseburger, that this means that you have failed and you now need to quit all together!

2. Second, understand that screwing up is a perfect way to get stronger! The reason why is because you’ll be able to identify what caused you to screw up in the first place… so that you can fix this from happening again.

For example, let’s say that you went to the mall and you smelled cinnamon buns, you then couldn’t resist the temptation and purchased some and devoured them! But, if you think about how you got to that point, you would have realized that maybe you skipped breakfast, or you went to the mall without eating and you are now hungry.

Solution for that specific problem is to simply make sure you eat something filling (such as foods with protein and fiber) prior to going to the mall!

3. Third, make sure that you do SOMETHING. What this means is let’s say that you missed a workout, then what I recommend you do is to just do some type of exercise… and it doesn’t matter what it is or how long it is. If you ate bad food, then eat something healthy before the day ends. Etc. Doing this is reassuring to you mentally that although you gave in… you haven’t gave up!

4. Fourth, one of the best ways I have found to avoid losing motivation if you slipped is to make the day after the best freaking day of your health and weight loss journey! This means eating super healthy all day long, drinking plenty of water, doing an amazing workout, not eating thing too late, and then going to bed early. Again, this is something that is reassuring and will certainly keep you motivated!
